A Windy Night is a video work recorded by the first-person perspective on a night adventure between Jiaxin and her father, where she observes her own family narrative within the pandemic. The film is a projection of reality and a historical record during what has been the current unusual period for many. Intimacy, the fragility of the individual, the impermanence of life, and situational awareness are integral to Jiaxin’s current contemplation.
Jiaxin Liang (b. 1997) is a visual artist who works between Shenzhen and London. She is currently an MA photography student at the Royal College of Art. She treats the creative process as a conversation, a recall and a reverie. Within a focus on the mutually oriented relationship between illusion and photography, Jiaxin's recent practice employs photography, moving image and video installation to explore the ideas around allegory, myth/folklore, family cohesion, and site-specific culture.
